What's with all the buttons? Is it a NV scope with IR light on it? Why black and white, is it a LED monitor rather than straight optics?

its a digital scope with a black and white screen. similar to gen 2 night vision, buttons are for things such as changing the reticle pattern or colour, contrast settings, video in / out, usb link for uploading your own reticles. its a nice bit of kit but tbh a standard scope works better in the daytime as you get colours

Most scopes are more than needed for airsoft but that looks great, bet it wasent cheep. Will have a look on youtube for it.

scope is a pulsar n550. works fine when you get used to it being black and white

Used the pulsar on my .22lr sako quad bashin bunnies out to 100 yards
Great for hunting at night but a bit expensive at just under a grand and a bit overkill on an airsoft rifle.
