Re: Madbull ultimate hop plus LED

Right just installed the non LED version into my G&P, fitted perfectly into the body etc. Hop unit was very easy to assemble so I was well happy.

Picked my AEG up, shot off a few rounds and got horrible grinding sound of BB's hitting BB's and general blockage. Took me chuffing ages of fiddling about and swapping rubbers etc. Turns out the nub that Madbull give you with it is CHUFFING MASSIVE! So if you have the hop slightly on it blocks the god damn barrel. Replaced it with my TM nub and its perfectly fine now. Works like a dream, the Madbull dial is just so much better to use and feels so much more solid.

lol no can't wait to actually give this a blast in the field now at hopefully next ground zero woodland. The wheel is just sooo much better than standard M4 wheel unless Madbull have an exclusive patient on this I can't see why manufacturers don't swap over to this method for M4's.

Stuck the blue rubber Madbull give with you on it to see how it actually is, if its pants will be swapping back over to my TM rubber, can't exactly compare them in the garden mind you :P

You have to watch out and make sure you get the right one. Some guns take 2 piece units, others take 1 piece units. The Madbull Ultimate hop unit has been very good when iv'e used it. Much better than the element airseal unit, and alot better than the CA proline unit. I've not had a systema unit to compare it too, but it gave me an extra 20 or so feet more than the CA proline unit. The seal is alot better, and the adjustment wheel is very precise and easy to use. Nice addition at a rather low price

Could anyone do us all a favour and post a video up with the LED fitted version firing in the dark? Really keen to see how bright it is when compares to a TM tracer/silencer unit.

it's better to bring up an old post than create a new thread.

I done a quick search on youtube, but couldn't find any related to the hop up tracer unit, only the suppresor type.

                      so what...its still relevent

anyway the TM is apparantly the best thing out there, so the madbull is a tad less brighter...but it still lights them up,and the bbs are still giving off light minutes later

And if he'd started a new thread, you can bet someone would have resonded with a post only containing a link to this thread.

The idea behind the hop tracer (HUTU) is that it doesn't need to be as bright to do as good, or better, job of "charging" the BBs as a suppressor type.
This is because, on say a 25bb/s gun (a high number chosen to demonstrate a point), the BBs are travelling through the feed tube, past the LEDs at 150 mm/s (6x25). That's about 0.49 fps (so it'd be even slower on a lower ROF gun).
If the gun's firing at 328 fps, it needs much brighter lights to do the same job.

HUTUs can be problematic with semi, though. This is because the BBs sit in the tube longer, and may not be illuminated all the time. The Madbull 3-in-1 has a long slot for the LEDs, but I don't know if it's enough to illuminate the ones at the top.
The suppressor type obviously doesn't suffer from this problem.

There's no "muzzle flash" from a HUTU. There is from some suppressor types, and at least one of them makes a feature of it by having a cutaway casing.

RE-Necro post - the guys who've already commented have pretty hit the nail on the head. RE the additional info supplied that's all good stuff and I've had my doubts as to the effectiveness of the unit due the low amount of time the BB gets a charge of light before it disappears out the chamber. The only other balls ache I can see is the actual wiring methodology as with out bodging some switch to the unit you wont be able to leave a battery connected as the unit is always on. I've also heard that there is likely to be some light escaping from the weapon once fitted so that doesn't really install a heap of confidence in it for me. Still would like to see a vid on Utooob!

Re switching: Some people wire the HUTU to the motor, so that it runs when the motor does (i.e. while firing).
That's fine for auto, but the problem with that is that in between bursts, or semi auto shots, no "charging" of the BBs in the feed tube occurs.

Now a really clever MOSFET function would be to run the LEDs at full power while firing, but step down to 50% or lower brightness when not firing, just to maintain the "charge".

I like your thinking - wonder if the boys at AWS might have a sniff at adding a module to their already successful raptor frop in. Trigger master might also be interested. I can see an email getting sent. To be fair its not the end of the world leaving it plugged in for a night game but if your like me and and tend to just chuck everything in the car willy nilly at the end of the night and forget about it till the morning it could be a problem! Spose I best be disciplined to unkit when I get back in at midnight!
