    But if you shim so that you get solid engagement on the bevel (and make sure to space it out from the walls) you can quite easily guarantee that the spur wont hit anything. It's called checking your work as you progress.

      Engagement? Good luck checking the engagement of the motor on any gb without a motor cage. Besides, that's what the motor height adjuster is for.

      Guess you've never shimmed a G&P V2 box then where the spur will happily scrape on the bevel gear bushing all day long without shims.

        Engagement - If you can rotate the motor by driving the bevel gear and its smooth then your done, if it siezes too much, if it has play too little. Simple.

        Shimming - sounds like you think im shimming without using any shims... *facepalm*
