I have just re built my MP5K, swapped the piston and head out. But apart from that I have used all the Classic Army standard parts, albeit modified some of them. The trigger response if pretty nippy, but then it should be as it is running a 2800mHa 30C 11.1v LiPo.
Even with the Classic Army high torque motor it is running 27bb's a sec. Pity the new motor stripped the pinion. Was as tough as soft cheese, will have to wait for my pinion tool to arrive to swap it over and see what it does with a stupidly fast motor....fingers crossed as I want to break the 40 a sec barrier.
It also has a fireworks AB mosfet.

more or less your motor will rotate more that it needs to....which will wear it out, and other internals quicker than expected....an ab mosfet, puts the brakes on your motor everytime you stop pulling the trigger....
i was contemplating putting a mosfet in my new VFC PDW, but as im running it off a 7.4 lipo ive decided theres little point, as the stress is not as great as the 11.1

It puts excessive wear on your trigger contacts. They could be fine for some time, or could fail early. You pays your money...
If you use it full auto it's also going to put significant strain on your internals

I've blown the trigger switch before now when connecting high powered batteries without a MOSFET.

But the MOSFET will bypass the actual flow of current from the trigger and so the trigger wouldn't go?
Also, wouldn't there be the same amount of strain in full auto even with a MOSFET fitted?
Sorry if this is a lot of questions but I want to get everything straight!

There will be more strain on the gear box due to the additional power being exerted to move things arround much more quickly. You really need to ensure that the aoe has been corrected and that you have a sector clip as a minimum befor running an 11.1.
With the 11.1 and no mosfet the trigger contacts take the full force of the 11.1v so the contacts arc and over time how long depends on how much they arc obviuously and what the contacts are made of. With a mosfet there is only a trace current that triggers the mosfet to send current through the motor wires.
Having said that my main gun is so small that there isn't room for a mosfet so it doesnt have one and I still run it on 11.1's.

Nice, so the way I see it my best option is to fit a mosfet, for general efficiency in current to the motor and less wear on the trigger contacts. Then to get a 9.6V mini or 7.2V (or whatever it is) lipo? This should get me good response from the trigger without going ballistic in full auto and risking chewing the gears. What do you reckon?

You can get AB mosfets from any of the better suppliers for £25.00. Or basic ones for a tenner if you know where to look.

Depends on the battery, and what effect's you're looking for. People run AB fets in AEG DMR set ups, not only to save the trigger contacts from the extra current, but also to reset the piston into a more consistent position. This gives a more consistent FPS. Not really worth worrying about if you're running full auto. In full auto, the piston will stop wherever you pull the trigger. There's no occasion in which a FET will hurt. Just a case of finding space and learning how to wire it up.
Also, if you think £10 is cheap, you can buy the MOSFET unit, and your own wire and resistors, and make it up yourself for less than £5. AB units are only slightly harder to make. I think they require both a P and an N channel FET. But I don't have the wiring diagrams handy.
