A&K m249, Sound controll help.
19 September, 2010, 14:37
As above really, i have an m249 and i love it, the only issue i'm having however is the box mag does not function with the sound activation. the only other option i have is to put it on auto-winding and to be honest, it sounds like a little tub boat. with its constant ticking.
i know the m249 isnt a sneaky/stealth weapon but i'd love to be able to set up in cover and not alert everyone within earshot of my location.
tick-tick-tick-tick-tick.
anyone got any idea how to fix this issue? or where to go where i could learn how to fix it?
cheers all.
- Chris.

You have to take the internals out of the box first.
If you are able to do that let me know and i will post a pic of my internals and where the adjustment screw is.

Top right of the curcit board stick a screwdriver in it an very gently turn clockwise (i think) as far as it will go it will only be 1 full turn from off to full sensitivity.
Mine was all the way off and i thought it was bust before i turned it up now it works perfectly.
Hope its the same for yours.
It can be tested by blowing hard on the sensor while its on sound mode.
You will know if sound mode works full stop because when you switch it from off to sound it twitches a little.

Hope you dont mind me joining in, but my mag activates when you blow on it, but firing the gun still isnt enough to make it wind...any ideas from here?

Re: A&K m249, Sound controll help.
looking now, have the magbox apart but the only small screw on the circuit board is the one that attaches to the mechbox itself.
There is a small hole just forward of the auto/off/sound control switch, with a red and white wire attached?

Re: A&K m249, Sound controll help.
On mine the sound control stopped working due to a damaged wire/broken solder on the mic end.
Open up the feed end (2 screws, watch the feed catch spring and catch) and make sure it's not broken away. Same then goes for the other end of the assembly.

had the plug apart last night and the wiring is all fine. Ive turned the sensitivity right up (clockwise) and a light blow on the mic makes it wind; it still isnt winding when attached and the gun is fired though

thanks for everyones help.
this is unfortunatly my problem. the wires have snapped from the mic in the head. just tried to aralsite them back in but its not going to work, i'm too clumsy and my soldering is far worse. thanks for the help and for the pics tistane but it looks like i'm damned to a life of m249 ticking
