Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
Anybody have an APS-2 Piston Sear they can measure up? Look awfully similar...
Got a few quotes for machining, waiting on a few more before I make a decision.

Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
Well lowest quote so far is £160... which I am NOT paying!
Anybody got any ideas? I have fired some emails across to HK retailers to see if they can help at all.
I am very annoyed that this is stopping me using this rifle!

Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
Not that much! It's only tool grade steel.
Speaking to a friend who machines suspension parts for McLaren... see if he can help!

Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
Lesson being the piston sear is made from pot metal and not steel as advertised!

Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
Although not prepared to do it myself. Can I suggest a trip to your local model engineering society. Like airsofters they tend to shun the daylight, but from my experience, tend to be all over problems like this.
Your only problem may be getting them to decide on the material to use. No doubt there will be scorn heaped on the manufacturer for using mazak or pot metal. Then the arguments will start, nylon, aluminium billet, steel etc, until the old boy in the corner pipes up, 'I've got a bit of titanium in my scrap box, that should hold it'
A part like this shouldn't take long to make as a one off, however making several would be a pain without either CNC or lost wax casting.
If you wanted to try yourself, may I suggest drilling the hole in the material first, then filing / hacksawing the rest to size. Its difficult to move a hole...........

Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
its called mild steel, or pot metal if you like, could have been made of silly string or squirrels eye lashes, but if you'd not faffed around with it, or paid the shop to upgrade it, you'd still have a warranty, and this thread wouldn't have existed

MadWelshman, I find it insulting that you think this is due to a failed upgrade by myself. If the upgrades had been carried out by a retailer the end results would still be the same, the sear just isn't up to it. There are guys in Italy who have had this happen with a stock gun!
King Arms have finally gotten back to me with price of £6.50 to have a replacement sear and trigger arm delivered to my door. I am awaiting a response to my question asking them if they plan to release a reinforced version.
Dadio, PM is on its way to you...

Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
New Sear has arrived, and King Arms have made some revisions;
It is heavier than the old sear, and the piston tooth is significantly larger.

Re: HELP - Piston Sear - Any ideas?!
Time will tell if the sear v.2 is any good. Seems I am the only person who actually took it up with King Arms (which is worrying!).
