On topic, L85 AVF all the way

2)It is an offence to sell an imitation firearm to a person under the age of eighteen.

after personal experience i would avoid ares/star. Some of their guns are unfaultable but the next one in the batch will break shortly after purchase. But if i had to choose it would be the tar21

I understand. Experience with any Airsoft weapon has certainly taught me that when you get a new weapon, you never skirmish it without first field stripping it (but not dismantling the build and thereby voiding warranty), lubing the gear box (by syringing a little extra grease through grip), cleaning and lubing moving parts, lubing hop and tightening every bolt and screw that you have access to. Then fire about 1000 rounds to
begin
bedding in the hop.
Star/ Ares is no exception to the above process.
The Ares TAR 21 is probably the one weapon where one will struggle to find anything loose since it's a very simple and solid construction. It's also much more of an all around weapon that the L85 AFV - the L85 AFV has a shorter barrel whereas the TAR21 has a full M4 length barrel.

Re: Ares L85a2 AFV or Ares Tar 21. which one and why?
I originally opened this thread because I wanted a highly accurate and efficient assault rifle.
I bought a TAR 21 from this forum, it had been upgraded but was not shooting correctly. I stripped it down....which is a bitch btw, major hassle with the internal rod system that controls the trigger and selector switch. The parts are un-common also so broken hops etc would be harder to get. It never did work correctly so I sold it on as a broken gun.
I then bought a new TM M4 Socom and upgraded that. Its a shame TM do not make the TAR imo.
I would go with an AVF if I was to choose between the 2 again (just in case anyone else is considering) I have never seen one on the field!

But worry, you where right tbh. Far to many Star / Ares guns have probelms from new and after only a short while of use. There not all bad of course or no one would ever buy them but far to many do go wrong, way above the average compared to TM or CA, hence the reason why so many people say they are unreliable.

Buy the ICS SA80 is ferking fantastic I have one it is brilliant and as Hypnose says you can just use one spring to get Urban and woodland FPS Limits due to the springer adjuster fitted.
Hops's easy and works very well and (from direct comparison to a Star AFV SA80) shoots further.
Sorry to add options.
Sir we are f&cked we are surrounded. Son we are not f&cked we are in a target rich enviroment.

Re: Ares L85a2 AFV or Ares Tar 21. which one and why?
I dont own either so totally unbiased here however this is what i've noticed.
Tavor - Plus points - Amazing range easily one of the longest range AEG's ive seen
Accuracy seems to be incredible on these
Sound - the ones i've seen were running on Lipo and sounded lovely
Originality as you dont see too many of these around
Negative points - seems a bit plasticy for my liking, though i dont like the G36's
seen 2 jam during gameplay
L85 - Plus points - British Army use them and we are the best tbh :P
lovely build quality
seem fairly customisable
negative points - every man and his dog has one
not fantastic range
if you get a blowback one learn how to fix all the problems it will cause before you even skirmish it :D

well i was gunna say the TAR 21, just because so many have the L86, then i saw Rockrobins' post, makes the LSW double sexy, despite its an L86 with a longer barrel and bi-pod, pretty much, them ladies made your decision for you! WOW! i really want a LSW now!!!
I apologize for anything that might pxss you off

Re: Ares L85a2 AFV or Ares Tar 21. which one and why?
The L85 (in any variant) is not plastic except for the foregrip and pistol grip. It's steel as is the ARES L85.
The ARES TAVOR is 90% polymer externally as per real steel rifle - feels as tough as steel and makes the TAVOR nimble in the shouldered position.
Polymer based externals is the future for assault rifles to reduce weight.
The TAVOR really is a multi-use weapon- i.e. CQB, woodland and sniper.
