Re: tw@t's on the field ..
First post on a forum should obviously be done in this thread!
Firstly Hello! and my little story
Went Airsofting for the first time in like 3 years so I am not sure how much of an occurance this is so I sort of was fairly relaxed about it. Right at the end of the day before the very last match these guys who were on our team seemed like alright people. I won't make any sterotypical judgements on them, however you could pick them from the same field if you know what I mean. Anyway they at the beginning I thought they seemed pretty cool, had cool looking gear and many guns. However right at the end I think their plan of "sniping" hadn't reallly worked out and decided to shoot their own team. Now for me I am not "super serious" about it. Nearly last game of the day you have a joke sort of thing. However there was a kid who looked 12 I think, they shot him in the back of the head.
I'll be honest I won't blame anyone for laughing just reading it because to me it is slightly funny thinking about it. However it really isn't funny because for the kid, he wouldn't know any difference and the guy had bought the heavy BB so it must have hurt because he didn't have a helmet (only a face mask) so I thought that was quite ****y of them. So bless this poor kid is holding his head and wonders how he was shot since he was in a trench pretty much out of the action.
Aside from that the day was a blast! I thought I had broke 2 guns and 8 mags but who knew... I was just over winding them!

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
playing my first true CQB game up at the A12 in witham playing an attack/defend game, when my team was attacking we flshed the courtyard pretty quick, then we mpved onto the lower building, i started clearing rooms from the left and met my mate as we approached a doorway, so thinking that the enemy was on the other side of the doorway i threw a tornado impact in, waited a tic then ducked in with my shotgun, the guy at the room turned to look at me and then wanderd off (i never fired bc i couldn't see his colour (half the people had put them on the front of there rigs) so i ducked out to tell my mate that its freindly in there and a hail pellets suddenly burst through the doorway...so my mate called out "COLOUR" and was met by a girl calling out "yellow" the a man calling out "yellow", the girl then called out "colour" so i replyed "FLUMP" then ducked through the doorway and shot the guy facing the door.....at which point he threw his toys out the pram complaining that "you cant do that", then the marshal turned up (he was in the room aswell) and the girl started moaning that we lied about our colour along with the guy, so the marshal just sent us apart and asked us to attack somwere else (pointless as we had all but cleared the lower building).
now i know that as a gentleman i should have told them i was orange, but not stating my colour should have been enough to tell them that im not friendly, And they also lied as there armbands were fluresent green not yellow (nit picking i know) .
not so much of a tw@t moment but when the game started i had my tri shotty and ran up to a window and saw a guy just inside, now i've been on the reveiving end of my tri-shotty and this guy was just wearing a T- shirt so after a seconds hesitation i decided not to shoot at point blnk through the window and go round the side, so i lowerd my shotty and started walking back to as if shot, i got two steps before he just misses spearing me with his AEG and puts two rounds into my armpit. thankfully my mate drppped a BFG in before i could give his face chickenpox!

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
doesn't sound like the opposing force did anything wrong, only that you decided not to respond correctly to a colour challenge, which is a courtesy thing. and they got annoyed about this.

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
which i could understand, but there argument was that i said my colour was yellow and that i was cheating bc of this, and the pair of them made this point loudly and at length even talking over the marshal to get said point across, while i stood there waiting for the marshal, who only heard two calls of Yellow to try and get a word in,
so basicaly i was a tw@ for not calling colour, and i beleive that these pair should receive the same tittle for stoping a game and causing quite a fuss over it, and may i just mention that one of them saw me come through the door left arm with orange band in plain view before walking away without a word and then moaned when i shot him from the place wher he saw me....

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
Colour challenge is always going to result in friction.
I had one the other day where I'd visually IDed the other team, shot one, then after he calls hit his mate starts calling out colour because he is thinking it may be blue-on-blue, I call out my colour as I shoot the guy. He didn't say much but you could see his bottom lip was out over the issue.
My call on it was I was clean as I was clearly visible as I came in. I find sites where colour challenges are a thing players often over-rely on the colour challenge even when they could ID visually. It just becomes habit and laziness.

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
true. what i was getting at was the fact he purposely didn't say his colour when challenged. things happen quick and it is a right PITA, every sunday without fail there are issues. thats not the point though :P

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
@ben, It really is the only policy.
I think my point was that colour challenge systems are never going to be perfect. And folk should expect it not to go right all the time.
The point made in the briefing at the Mall about ignoring people doing colour challenge speculatively to try to marco-polo folk hiding in the dark shows the weakness of expecting colour challenges to ever be a perfect black-and-white system, it only works when lubricated with a good dose of common sense from all concerned.

If the site rules allow point blank firing, it sounds like the guy was well within his rights.

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
absoloutly there is nothing in the rules about not using your AEG as a spear so it is perfectly OK.
Next time i go im going to take a duffel bag full of pea grenades and a rubber knife on a stick, nothing in the rules about excessive grenade use or knife killing people from 12 feet away...

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
If he was on the other side of a window that you had moved two steps away from and he still managed to nearly spear you with an AEG, then either:
1. It was a Dragunov
2. You take very small steps
3. You are exaggerating

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
"almost" meaning close but no cigar, if his pistol grip was still inside the window i wouldn't of thought he was trying to spear me, if his magwell was still inside the window i would of understood but we are talking almost the full lenth of the gun out of the window

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
When colour challenged, I don't respond unless I know god-damned well it's my own team.
When I hear a colour challenge:
1- Find some cover/anywhere to 'hide'.
2- Wait for THEM to move (they've alerted me to their presence).
3- ID them- My team, I then make my presence known and carry one. Opposing team- They get a plastic shower.
I think the 'colour challenge' thing is a lot like the 'bang rule'. It's very open to abuse. As mentioned before, it can be used to 'Marco-Polo' people and find out where they are - I find most of the time it's used, it's exactly this.
The 'bang rule' (which now comes under being a tw@t), people can just run into a room, spinning around shouting 'Bang' as loudly and quickly as possible, even if they don't know anyone is in that room. The only time I will 'bang' kill someone is if I can actually make physical contact, but that's a 'melee' kill (due to my lack of a knife)... Depending who it is, I'll be nice occasionally, and state "You're out unless you want me to shoot you in the neck" (this happens on the rare occasion when I get behind someone who is hiding in cover).

Re: tw@t's on the field ..
So people who abuse the bang rule are tw@ts, the colour challenge is like the bang rule, and clearly you're happy to also abuse the colour challenge by not responding when challenged...
