  • Modern USMC Force Recon loadout?

    Hey all

Wanting to got for the Modern day Force recon look and looking for advice really.

I have full marpet ( not the cheap stuff either ) Pants, shirt and Boonie.
I also have one desert magnums which i know arent exact but are a well costed alternative.
I also have a set if viper tactical gloves
I currently have a Bulle lightweight webbing setup which i thought would be about the right thingto go for.

Will try and get some pix up of what i have to see what you think.

    Questions are

Helmets?? not sure what the USMC are currently using and do force recon wear them??

Also webbing/plate carrier. what are they using??

Also hosters. i have a socom 1911 desert combat. I am using a shoulder holster atm only coz a leg holster would pull my pants down with the weight of my full metal 1911. what you reccomend?? other than some braces haha

    Cheers in advance
USMC are that awesome even Katy Perry wears MARPAT!!

    Semper Fi Mofo!

First post on that page is my impression, while its not complete theres nothing on there that they don't use.
    Helmet - MICH 2000
The BULLE lightweight webbing isn't all that accurate.
Rig wise they're using EPC/MBAV, MBSS and PACA, RRV w/ MBSS back panel and PACA, CIRAS (although thats now being phased out). A few operators have been seen with multicam rigs, although these are private purchase.
Gloves wise you'd want a set of Oakley assault gloves or Nomex gloves.
    Holster - Safariland 6004
Thats all for DA, for Greenside you could use ALICE webbing over PACA. Of course the PACA is personal preference for you in all the loadouts as its mostly hidden by the rig, but it just adds to the authenticity.
Questions like this should go in the linked thread

They are wearing the normal lightweight US marine helmet (pretty much like a gentex TBHII but it has a slight lip around the front, and is a different colour).

I'm not an expert on USMC stuff, but from what I can tell the USMC has two different styles of body armour in service at the moment, one heavy (i.e. bulkier) type and a light one, which is similar to the paraclete SOHPC, but in USMC brown/coyote/whatever it's called. From what I have seen recon are wearing the lighter version.

Mechanix, oakley or any nomex flying gloves would be appropriate.

These serpa holsters are in use at the moment: http://www.armyproperty.com/Equipmen...a_Tactical.htm (except obviously in tan/brown)

force recon have alot more choice rig wise than the regular marines , the popular rig at the minute is the paraclete RBAV , older look you could go with a ciras , mbss , epc

        helmet wise a mich 2000

I read a study or document somewhere that on long range ops, troops typically ditched body armour to save on weight. Obviously in Afghan almost all ops are vehicle mounted so you don't see this, but if you're in Woodland Marpat you could go for a plate carrier-less look, especially in role as Force Recon as their job is to go in light...
Goes by the callsign "Iceman" to avoid confusion with the entire Delta team...

You see about as many LWHs as you do MICH 2002s. As a general rule its the MICH 2000.

            Safariland is much more common.

A good link for the things they wear, thats the entire FSBE deployment kit - although they use other things, there isn't anything there that they don't use.

I don't claim to be any kind of USMC expert, but I have worked with them for extended periods of time, very recently, and I didn't see a single safariland holster.

Oh baby, I wish I had the money for that!

As for the MBSS, is it CB or Khaki they'd use?

I aint gonna dispute you on that one buddy, but there is loads of pictures of the safariland holster, but as Fatal and Shadownova on Arnies say (both ex/current Marines) it varies from unit to unit.

MARSOC have been spotted wearing MJK recently too

@Fizzy: I know what you mean mate.

Yeah, as I said I am not exactly an authority on what they do/don't wear. It may just be that the serpa has only just started to be issued to everyone, or that it was the only one issued to the blokes in that particular unit.

At the last War & Peace show I came across a USMC branded SERPA so I'm sure they use it

Re: Modern USMC Force Recon loadout????

The USMC do use the Blackhawk serpa but it is down to the unit you would be copying which one they bought as the choice is by unit (or so i am informed by a serving Marine), i have seen pictures of both regular marines and force recon guys wearing mostly the safariland tan holster for the M9 or the serpa for the same and also for the M.E.U pistol (1911 mod) depending on who they are with, a couple of units until recently still used the old M12 issue holster but these are considered as useless for quick access.

Also both the safariland and the serpa will be Tan, the only units using black holsters are mostly ship boarding crews to what i have seen, the units fighting in Afghanistan use tan holsters in these types.

I'm doing a similar loadout, I've got marpat top and trousers but there's no arm patches or badges, what stuff do I need to get? I'm guessing it's the american flag, reversed and normal, do they go for all the blood types and name badges etc?

I wasn't aware the USMC wore patches and badges, that's more of an Army thing?
