Re: Contemporary British Loadout
Judging by who has them, a fair number are issued to guys who are serving, although no doubt a few airsofters pay silly money for them or benefit from them being stolen, I suspect most who put them up have them legitimately.

Re: Contemporary British Loadout
i'd love to know how one got hold of one inc the belt with armour inside....cause there are many soldiers who cant even get hold of them and the groin protectors.... i think they are utter b*stards tbh and should be done.

Re: Contemporary British Loadout
still think they are utter b*stards they are prancing round an airoft site getting shot at by sub 500fps bb's and soldiers in afgan are getting blown up by ied's and loseing there lives, you can get mk7's on the bay ospreys and mk7's are allover the place( ebay) lets face it they dont want them handed back after a tour they are rotten and arent allowed to be passed on anyway most of the stuff gets burned

There was a belt with the armour advertised (and now removed) on here just the other day...

Re: Contemporary British Loadout
shouldnt be allowed at all fair enough with the osprey covers although i dont agree with non armed forces playing with the full plates in as they shouldnt have them the side plates and inner soft armour are part of the package but the large plates front and back are not

Re: Contemporary British Loadout
As far as im aware you can actually buy the covers from the manufacturer. But plates shouldnt be on the market unless its through the approved disposals system.
I dont think you can even buy the issued plates from anywhere new.

Re: Contemporary British Loadout
I thought the one you can buy direct from the manufacturer was slightly different to that which is actually issued? Not entirely sure though, I don't have access to either, so going by what I've heard and a few pictures. Not that I'd spend that on a PC anyway, the RS RAV and 6094 I have are about the most I am ever going to spend on that sort of thing, no matter nearly double on an Osprey.

This subject crops up quite a lot, and usually degenerates into "my mate knew a bloke who saw 'x' happen" type conversations as the poster's idea of a definitive argument winner.
The black bag issue for deployment means they have been issued all the required kit. MOD will not deploy troops without the same basic kit issue. This came about around seven years ago, after the case of a RTR SNCO who was killed on Telic 1 after he had to hand in his body armour. The Coroner at Oxford kicked up stink (rightly), and thus it became policy to issue ALL deploying troops with the required protection for the job in hand.
The simple matter about people running around with plates is they only get hold of them through nefarious means, and that usually means that someone has been naughty and flogged their kit. Now don't get wound up at the airsofter - they have parted with their money to someone who has parted with their morals. They may of course, be using "dummy" plates, available from people like Toy Soldier. Of course using issued kit for recreational purposes is against all sorts of rules; off the top of my head, I can't think of the DIN No. but if needs be I'll check it in the morning, although it is something that all servicemen and women should be aware of. It's not your kit, it belongs to Her Maj. She will frown upon it being misused.
Any opinions expressed by me may not be mine. I don't have opinions anymore. I have a mortgage and teenagers. I used to be a wild, party animal. Now I buy my trousers at M & S.

Re: Contemporary British Loadout
Regarding blokes selling their issued kit, I think it would just be dealt with as theft.
Although the monkeys arent exactly on the ball as according to the unit at Aldershot they can not search a civilian address, despite the possibilty of there being live rounds and pyrotechnics.

Ugh, not again. This has been discussed
countless
times and is getting wearisome. There are separate threads on this matter if you want to talk about it. Can we please get back on topic.
