Re: Loadout Advice
Okay, so I decided a while back that as good as the ACU looked on my loadout it was a tad too bright, and discovered that with Dying it was possible to make clothes darker (as you would expect) by using black dye, and by using small ammounts at a time could keep the pre-existing pattern.
This made me do a little research and I am by no means the first to try this, but I am (as far as I can tell) the first to try it with spray dye. So the product in question;
Looks a little girly but I figured that since it is washable using soap in the first hour of application, if it looks pants I can remove it.
So the initial setup. As you can see I enjoyed a Dominoes Pizza (or 2) recently and the boxes provided an excellent ground on which to create my masterpiece (or frankenstein).
So I began to spray, and on first impressions it didnt really seem to do a lot apart from make everything look wet. However I pressed on like a man and carried on spraying till everything was covered. (Quote there for someones sig)
After half an hour the pattern beneath began to show through (I was getting quite excited at this point).
The reccommended drying time is 1 hour so I figured I would leave it a little longer, and good thing too! The pattern was very clear now, and I was smiling.
A comparison shows the extent of the colour transformation. Bear in mind that this is still a little damp and is not the finished product!
Now to start on the back...
AND DISASTER STRIKES! I RUN OUT OF DYE!
The lesson from all this, buy more than I think I need next time!
I am happy with the outcome so far, however this is far from finished and I will be posting an update when my other 2 bottles of dye arrive (making sure I have plenty this time!).

Omg its better than ever!
Okay an update here, that has made me smile
I attached my old head torch to my helmet using the quick release clip supplied with the IBH, I think you'll agree its awesome! It can lock into various angles like many headtorches which is always good;
I dyed some of my gear to try and take away the "brightness" of the ACU, here it is with the IBH in full;
One for "The Lady" (and OneShot!);
And one because I felt "Tacti-COOL" in all my gear;
Should the IBH get a bit much, or I fancy a breeze through my hair;
Opinions, as always, are greatly appreciated. I am very happy with how the dying has turned out. I just need to finish the back, and touch up parts that I have missed. The Blackwater Patch is temporary, just to fill the space till a new one arrives. Also going to look at spraying the IBH to give it a weathered look at some stage but that comes after I finish the dying bit.
Apologies again for my ugly mug, but hey its the gear you should be looking at you spanners!

Re: Loadout Advice
Put the final coat of dye on the gear, and the final results are very pleasing. Below is a quote from the "Dying Gear" thread that I created seperately.

Agreed with Roxy, looks really good bud. The dye has worked beautifully!
Shame about the pesky red tape.

Thanks, the dye worked far better than I had expected and completely changed the look of it all - for the better too!
Indeed the tape is a sure fire way to ruin any loadout - just wish I could clean up this thread and remove a load of old posts :/

I like that mate, looks like it works well in an urban environment, good job on dying the ACU too, looks just right with the BDUs IMO

Re: Loadout Advice
A long awaited update, pics from GASS Airsoft at the end of last year.
The HiCapa is now gone but here is how the loadout stands at the moment. Actually works quite well in the woods, the sun reflecting off the goggles gave me away though!
The holster strap has been cut down and the gear is slowly looking more and more battered. I will no doubt post some more pics when this gets used again.

Re: Loadout Advice
hey crasstoe
i dont know if you remember but we were talking about what the camo we both have is i have pinned it down now. its a US designed camo for the Iraqi federal police force that was brought in post 2006 as part of a multi million pound upgrade that the us implemented (£62 million). turns out we both had it wrong lol.
