Re: Complaints and police called, back yard plinking
Wow. A long ass thread for some simple information. Kudos to @loki7491 for posting up some facts!
To the OP though, in terms of your predicament and whether you decide to shoot in your garden. What I do is shoot into my garden from my garage when the need arises. This way the neighbours don't see me walking around with a "machine gun" so they don't get alarmed. What I shoot into is a large box with a sheet of a3 card on the open front. Inside the box, halfway between the card and the back of the box is a tea towel hanging from the so that it hangs an equal distance between the card target and the back of the box. This tea towel stops bb's bouncing back off the back of the box and if any do, it slows them down enough that they don't come back out through the card target thus eliminating any flying into neighbours gardens. I also hang laminate flooring underlay strips a couple of feet behind it with a thick bed sheet a few inches behind that and both are a couple of feet away from my fence. Any flyers that miss the target hit the insulating foam and penetrate it, but it slows them down enough that when they hit the bed sheet behind they just drop to the floor if any were to go through that they'd just hit the fence and bounce back into the bed sheet, but that is highly unlikely, hasn't happened yet and you'd probably need to be moving into the realms of an air rifle for that to happen.
To those of you guys new to the sport who may be reading these comments and wondering why the precautions. As @loki7491 pointed out with his link, once your bb's leave your property, having been fired from your gun, then you are breaking the law. Also bear in mind that while airsoft guns are essentially toys, they are not viewed the same in the eyes of the law, are not viewed the same in the eyes of most of the general public, and they are fvcking dangerous if used incorrectly. A majority of people, especially given the current world climate in terms of terrorism, murders etc, etc, would be alarmed to see their neighbour running around their garden shooting what they believe to be a real gun. Be smart and mitigate the risks to yourselves by just thinking about your actions and taking the time to understand the law. It's all their in black and white!

I am astounded that:
1. This thread even exists
2. There is argument on it
3. It is still alive and kicking
Really? I'm not! But as we're done and dusted...
