Re: British airsoft club announcement......
Most of the posters on the BAC Facebook page seem like people i would actively avoid at a skirmish. I wouldn't take their blind defence of a clearly flawed system as a slight. Probably as a compliment. Id like to be as far removed from them as possible. Remind me all too much of frothing Games Workshop fanboys for my liking. Theres a reason i walked away from that too.
As for their defence, that there is an element of trust; thats all well and good regarding hit taking and getting your mate a cup of tea at the site next time because you're skint this time. But it is the most grossly stupid and irresponsible thing i've ever heard when involving the buying and selling of items that are subject to the VCRA and all that entails. Morons.
And the involvement and support of the pony outfits Airsoft Odyssey and Black Wolves only makes me distrust it more.

Re: British airsoft club announcement......
That's what I wanted to say on their Facebook that honesty is an in game rule but off the battle field its the real world and there's more than plenty of dishonest people out there so its better having a true airsofter and geniune one test it than some chav looking to misuse a RIF unlike them I believe in the game and its values on & off the battlefield where as they just see all us players as £

Re: British airsoft club announcement......
One point i would like to raise upon further reflection...
Exactly what is the BAC doing with the details of hundreds if not thousands of airsofters? Do any of you know whether your details are being offered to interested parties commercially? And no, im not going to go all tin foil hat and suggest its being sold to the government so they can keep a tab (though plausible).
Yes ive read the stuff on their FAQs, but if you honestly believe that then you need a wakeup. Your local council has probably sold yours already. Companies with exactly the same blurb on their sites have been doing it for years. Ones that need the money a hell of a lot less. Especially given there are no actual legal reasons to sell or give your details to anyone for you to purchase a RIF. As the buyer you're under no obligation whatsoever. So technically they can sell them to anyone. Id be very surprised if they havent been offered to various companies for mailshots or to the various magazines of the industry. Technically they could sell it to the courier companies if they needed to ship it for you.
Fishy.
Compare the BAC answer to Data Protection:
"We will never pass on any of your information to any third party outside of that required for you to legally and safely purchase an RIF. All of your information is held securely by The British Airsoft Club, our web development team and on our servers."
To the UKARA answer:
"No, your information is protected under the Data Protection Act and may not be divulged to any third party unless authorised by you, if you are at any time unhappy you may have your details expunged from the record. It is only there to allow retailers to confirm you are eligible to purchase."
You tell me which one you would choose... Given that one clearly does not mention the requirement for you to give consent. It is implied.

Re: British airsoft club announcement......
Good point, they have clearly used the details they hold anyway as a friend of mine which they believe is involved, BAC have made a number of calls to him on his mobile and when he texted asking who it was they didn't even reply and kept calling and calling maybe if your going to call someone to give them grief at use a mobile that isn't connected to their list of people to contact....... DUH. not only are they stupid lazy idiots they are DUMB MOTHER F**KERS as well. Jesus I don't see why they can't just admit they cocked up big time say Sorry.

Re: British airsoft club announcement......
I initially thought maybe you should've sent them a heads up before you posted it Qlimax87 but how did they think they were going to get away with this (after they were warned too), esp after all the fuss that has been made and know people would be looking for stuff like this!
Thanks for investigative work.

Re: British airsoft club announcement......
But by giving them the heads up they could have posted their policy change before my posting which would have gotten no where as many would have seen their change. The original post went up on AFUK @ 1pm and the facts behind it weren't posted until 7pm so there was 6hrs for someone to notify them that something was due to be said or happen.

I've edited the last line slightly to make myself clearer.
But I do agree, there stupidly did not deserve a heads up.
