A minor moan
8 October, 2010, 11:42
If I may take a moment of your time and request that you hear my slight moan.
Whilst looking through some of the pic's in various threads I keep seeing something that niggles. There are a fair few pictures of people holding their guns in a very slip shod manor, I mean they are holding them like they were rpg's or something. The butt goes into the shoulder not over it or half way up it. In some of the pictures if the gun were to have real recoil the user would undoubtedly suffer injury.
As airsofters we are always citing "Realism" as a requirement, should not that same realism extend to use of the weapon as well as the look. Yes I know they aren’t real guns but if we are looking for realism in one area and disregarding it in others we might just as well use water pistols or worse still Paintball!!! If you don’t believe me check out some of the pic’s. Hopefully some of the guys on here who have fired some real steel will agree.

Re: A minor moan!!!
mostly the same as lt purcy but in more depth, i totally agree with you some people hold them in real strange ways, and there's been times before like you ive wanted to go "hey! your holding it the wrong way!" but then you kinda think to yourself is there game there money and just let em get on with it. just try not to think about it :D

Bah, you beat me to a couple of those, although the first guy is overloaded and looks overweight, has to be an airsofter
But as for the OP, yes it's 'realistic' as you can see :p You'll be saying we shouldn't be holding magwells soon
Although are we (airsofters) always citing 'realism'? Some are, some aren't...

Re: A minor moan!!!
Pope, that documentary was quite good, especially for the wannabe US loadouts. And it did show them putting the stock on the shoulder.

Yeah, but then when Multicam first came out, I think Airsofters were Crye's biggest market so...

Re: A minor moan!!!
As long as its not the barrel facing them, i think they might be ok with it halfway up their shoulder.
I believe it is a comfort thing for most people, or a ''i bought a gun thats too big and heavy for me kinda thing'' (4 foot support gunners im looking at you)

Re: A minor moan!!!
IMO, if you are using a scope as a monocular, your position might be different to taking deliberate aim. If you are firing for real without tucking the butt into your shoulder, you are going to get a poor shot on target-something to do with absorbing energy and reducing recoil.

Re: A minor moan
the real steel stock is there to absorb recoil of the shot and to spread it over your body so you obtain steady aim onto the next target . . . . . . . . . . as the guys from 300would say This is airsoft . . no recoil on many guns due to electronics , only recoil weapons like gas rifles and blowback aeg's have slight recoil . . aslong as the bb's go down range and position is fine . . this is an easy responce hehe .

Re: A minor moan
Yup - not bothered in the slightest.
Well except people who look down the sights of a GBB to find a slide in their face... now that is funny :D
