Re: has magpull had its day

Missed the edit, but Mr Stoner would probably also be pleased that Magpul are continuing to use polymers in the construction of rifle furniture over wood.

Interesting that 40% of people think Magpul have had their day. Chris Costa must be quaking in his beard

              Highly amusing one liner

I own a Masada and it is a fine piece of kit. Its like all things though is a Saxo a sh1t car just because a load of Chavs went to Halfords distribution depot and smashed through every isle? Answer is obviously no.

If the products where cr@p then nobody would buy them in the first place but people do so it cannot be all bad.

I do agree though that people do seem to get all worked up about it and the real question is why do people do so.

Its a game and we all make choices based on what we like.

I have a SA80 which only has a Susat and a sling on it because it looks right but my 551 is dripping with gun porn because its a CQB gun which I use in the dark so needs a torch and a laser (because it keeps peoples heads down) and a scope etc.

Its all about what you like and not what others think.

When I go to airsoft 70% of the people have a M4 / M16 and out of that only 10% seem to have got in touch with their Chav side but as long as it keeps them happy who cares.

If you dont like it sit back be smug and feel superior to them.

G&P do one, but it's a replica. Far as I'm aware it's not Magpul licenced. Think you can get a replacement stock adapter to fit Armalite stocks, not sure though.

Re: has magpull had its day

Yeah, you can get the G&P kit like yours, but with an AR stock tube instead of the twin rail one like yours...

Looks a bit funky though, because the rest of the gun is kinda square and skeletal, and then there's odd, sculpted looking area where the tube joins the receiver. If I was to get one, and I'll never say never, it'd be that one... Mostly so we didn't have exactly the same...

Re: has magpull had its day

I guess that answers it then... Magpul probably won't be outdone in airsoft until another real steel manufacturer starts making high quality, officially licensed versions of it's products for airsoft use.

Aside from anything, one thing Magpul do well is corporate image and marketing, they are to all intents and purposes, the Oakley of guns... Well, actually that's just ESS, them being the same corporation and all, but you know...

Re: has magpull had its day

Given that the US army, British army and numerous other militaries and law enforcments now have signed contracts to buy millions of their magazines, I'd say they're not :p

Look at it this way... sure a lot of it is expensive for airsoft, but their customer service is excellent, most of their products are well designed and functional, and half the weight too.

Edit: Ben beat me to it.

                        +1

Its also another big trend thing in my mind most people like magpul, but its also "cool" not to like it. Its some thing you see alot on this forum and its normaly down the devide of weapon type/make tastes. I know some people have said about magpul only making products for the armerlite family. This dose have somr thing to do with there real world products are in the USA or other nations where these weapon systems.

If you look, you can find companys in russia that do the same thing for AK weapons systems ect.

Magpul isnt the only real steal parts company out there we can use but its the one we can get with ease in the Uk.

Re: has magpull had its day

Has Magpul had it's day? In my opinion no. Maybe there is/going to be a move away from the plastic fantastic builds, and the overall 'fanboy' attitude, where ever part is Magpul, but as a company and as far as the use of their products goes quite the opposite.

If we look at the real world, and those forces currently active in A'stan, especially the US Magpul is highly popular. CTR stocks and grips, along with other bits, have been seen in numerous pics of both SF and 'regular' units (check MilitaryPhotos for reference if you don't believe me). Additionally the PMAG has become the more popular choice over the SANTAG due to weight and reliability, to the extent that they are being issued.

Now if we consider that airsoft will generally mimic real military (evident in the number of 'imitation' loadouts, and the rise of tan gear in green England in general) then Magpul will still be around. This isn't even taking into account the quality, both physically and to use, of their stuff, both RS and PTS.

Yeah the reason they go for armalites is that their main market is the American civilian shooting market and the American military... both of which use the armalite family far more than any others. If they were in germany they'd probably be doing horrific things to G36s
