Re: Very bad news for airsoft
The answer to this is to ban 2 tone and go to the clear bodies. Criminals can't copy that. Also then anyone who owns a 2 tone can be legitimately shot :p

Two Tones are a really, really bad idea I agree, BUT the blame seems all to be aimed and the people that use them when they have no option but to.
They should be banned but the -18's should be allowed site membership and then to have their parents gift them RIF's. I also think that if this were to happen phone calls should be made to the site owner where that minor plays to check if they were to be trusted with a RIF; something that doesn't need to be done as much with 18+'s as they tend generally to be more responsible.

I see you've changed your tune. To quote an earlier post:
I agree with you with basically all those points there, but whats wrong with under 18's having two tones?
See where many of us have been coming from?
In relation to the original post, I agree with RR, if it looks like a gun, regardless of coulour, it should be treated as one. That also includes chair legs in carrier bags pointed at the Police

Re: Very bad news for airsoft
I know this way off the subject... But the public automatically assume a airsoft gun is a air gun, unlike paintball. Air gun RIFs and paintball RIFs are easy to get hold of. Like you said Shifty about easy obtainment, but this is getting even more ridiculous...

What suprises me is how easy it is to get a replica air pistol (not airsoft).
Far more dangerous to boot.

Doubt it, especially as many retailers are stopping selling them.

It should just be the end to two tone. Keep UKARA/ or defence to buy.
In my mind, the best thing to happen would be to put a minimum price for an airsoft/toy gun to be sold (say £50) so that there are no more worries about cheapo RIFs being sold on stalls, pound shops etc. Then, allow all under 18 legit skirmishers to get site membership and have their parents gift them RIF's, and then ban two tone. That way the under 18's can still play. People will say "why don't they just rent till their 18 and can get UKARA registered", but it's a LONG time to wait and costs about twice as much to rent. Plus, if two tones were banned right now sales would drop so much from all shops in the UK that they'd all be in trouble, and would likely have to increase the price of RIFs that they sell.
Don't flame just my point of view

After talking to the firearms guys in dorset last night Ive been given disturbing news.
Some elaments of the criminal society are getting hold of firearms and painting twotone to look like toys, this could and Iam sure will effect the sport or hobby as you like.
I knew this would happen one day.
This is the MAJOR flaw in two tones.
All imitation firearms should be treated as if they were real, but if it's bright green it's not as easy to do.

Ban RIF's, Ban airsoft there is still going to be an uprise in firearms and crime in the UK. it is easier to get a real gun now then it is to get a RIF.

Re: Very bad news for airsoft
Dunno if any of you saw the so19 programs.
A guy fired two shots at unarmed coppers and hit one in the chest luckily he had a vest on.
Imagine how much of a nut job you have to do that.
Absolutely crapped himself when so19 tipped up. He was a jibbering wreck on the floor.
Point is when the guys with the hardware turn up even the most hardened criminals turn into girls. So a few fakes knocking around don't phase the so19 boys its the person holding the weapon that matters and there aren't many that face down the coppers. More guns = more people eating pavement.

my
friends dad has a sniper
whitch he takes to america once a year it only just below a 50cal and he takes it on a plane god knows how i think he has to have it escorted on or somthing any way he keeps it in his house in the middle of a city i dont no what type of licens he has
Sorry, but Id arrest him myself, carrying a poor innocent sniper around in a suitcase. Is he all ghillied up aswell? That must be hot to be like that for 7 hours.
Sorry to be pedantic, but its a sniper
rifle
Also to note I think this is still just wind and pish, it has been mentioned so many times in the past, and yet nothing has happened YET.
But if a petition or something was to be started, I would have no hesitation in showing my support for the sport I love.
Again though this has been going on for so long now, ever since orange tips were introduced, it really wouldnt surprise me if its been going on since coloured plastics were commonly used in the mass manufacture of toy guns all those years back.
Again no flames please this is my opinion on the matter and I will happily eat my words if it all does go pete tong.

Re: Very bad news for airsoft
this reminds me of the knife crime debates a while back. anything can be used as a weapon.. a pool ball in a sock, fists, a bottle. you can only ban so many potentially dangerous items, how far can they go. if they ban the import of rifs then jokes on them i got mine... if they ban airsoft there are other countries in the world... and surley disgression is a factor. if your in downtown nyc and a guy in a doorag covered in gang tats is carring a bright blue glock in his pants is it really fooling anyone?
the vcra didnt stop criminals getting hold of guns... they have a disregard for laws by definition. i can see our sport being banned tho.. im surprised it's still here.
