    You with RPU?

I was at the Defence Police College near Portsmouth and they also house the Hampshire traffic school. Loads of weird kit coming in and going out, including a guy teaching the bike course using a 'Blade complete with strobes in the fairing!

Back (at least a little bit) on topic, we also saw quite a few visits from CO19 and SOs 1,6 and 14 when they were doing training ops with the RMP Close Protection unit. Loads of variation in kit, even though they were all from the same force. I can't say I took much notice of exactly what they were using, as I wasn't so into airsoft then (plus they didn't like people taking too much interest in them), but even at a casual glance there were guys using belt mounted holsters and others with drop-legs. I even saw a guy from DPG with a shoulder holster once and I thought they had gone out with the ark!

A shoulder holster? Bless him, very Starsky and Hutch. Was RPU now FSU, times change, way oooop north from there. Did have a Blackbird with srtobes before the H&S Stormtroopers decided a 170mph bike would clearly be much safer with stripes and visible strobes on it... Ahh, do miss the bikes. Did suggest that if Judge Dredd and CHiPs can use bikes we should, fell on deaf ears.

Back on topic, it would be quite normal to see a wide array of kit being worn, usually no two people like the same thing so it tends to be a mix of old / new / trial kit, a shoulder holster though... They pretty much suck the big one.

Question on helmets (ones that go on your heads... not the other kind!), I have seen ARV and ARU on the back of helmets, ARV being Armed Response Vehicle, and ARU being Armed Response Unit... guessing the difference in ARV are in a vehicle in 3's patrolling, and ARU are called when needed, Correct?

ARU and ARVs are the same thing. They drive round in nice powerful pretty cars.

ARV/Us contain Authorised Firearms Officers, with Specialist Firearms Officers being the guys you call in when a brown substance hits a spinning cooling device.

Pretty pleased with this look, taken the gel inserts out the knee pads and they have slotted nicely into the knees on the trousers (god bless Dickies Workwear) so the pads are gone, apart from that the only thing left to be added is the goggles on the helmet (on the way!). Should be wearing this on Saturday, so expect some on site pics.

                    Nice.

Although is that a Glock been made to look like a Taser?

                    • B20 you are correct, but don't worry its not a glock of any value, its my make shift M26 replica . If I push it in to the holster a little further you only see the bottom of the grip, i think it does the job.

Thanks Leadmill, nice to have positive feedback. Obv once the goggles arrive are there any changes you would recommend?

I like the way you have made the glock into a taser seems to do the job very well. I think a Klick Fast Airwaves dock on your shoulder + pouch & radio would really set it off.

Credit for the Taser goes to Roxy, she came up with the idea.

There is a pouch already on the left shoulder (you may have to look at your screen from an angle to see it), any recommendations on an earpiece you can use with a balaclava on?! If not I'm going to have to wear it like a snood and just hope I dont get hit in the ear again!

Devgru throat Comms will work but they aren’t cheap about £100 from Z1 when I bought mine. In the meantime that pouch looks fine but a visible comms setup I.e. a radio hooked onto your vest would look allot more authentic.

                            • Thought exactly the same myself.

With the earpiece running straight from the throat mic it could all be totaly concealed comfortably under the balaclava.

I'm looking into other types of mic. I didnt get on with the Devgru throat mics when I last tried them so no doubt it would still be the same.

Looking into a method of fitting a klik fast plate onto the shoulder... looking like I may have to get the needle and thread out!
