That is really the Coyote brown colour thats been issued, the latest ris rails are supplied brown and the new down grips are FDE in colour. There are rumours that any new stock pistol grips and butt plates will also be FDE.

Gimpy, 7.62mm of full jacket loverlyness (unless you were the poor sod carrying it)
Always seemed to loose the collet's though, but then there were usually some Brigade of Guard grunts wanting to swap ammo for a spare set.

I thought they were issued with susat sights so an l85 with an acog would invalid anyway

No. The newest L85A2's are issued with an ACOG Scope obviously on a step up with a Doctor Dot site on the top for CQB Engagement on targets

They are an urgent operational requirement the actual Optic is an Elcan Spectre Dr

The new optic is an Elcan Specter OS ('Spectre' spelt wrong since that's how Elcan spell it
