I just had an image of an Royal Marine sniper taking someone out, then jumping out of cover and screaming "Boom! Headshot!"

a British sniper wouldn't do that - an American sniper would.

I only really cock my gun just before game on usually, or like when test fireing or whatever. I do try an avoid doing it too much as I cant help but feel it cant do much good.

I think you find in an M4ish way you can, just slap the bolt release HK styleand it makes a nice noise.

Well considering it's to do with how the cocking handle is positioned on a MP5/G3 or similar, and having done it on the real thing, I'd have to disagree

I do it sometimes. On my TM M4 SOPMOD I like using the charging handle to hear the metallic clink of the metal electrical blowback parts and the dust cover opening.

On the PSG-1, it has a function. It actually loads a BB, so I do it on that too.
With any other guns I don't bother. Gas blowback pistols like my Desert Eagle I obviously cock it, but I usually pull the slide back and put the magazine instead of the other way around. Looks better :P

But, aren't they purely cosmetic on M-4s and 416s? (Excluding PTWs, TM SOPMODs and GGBRs ofc)

They're cosmetic on TM SOPMOD M4's too unless you refer to the bolt stop function? That works, but using the charging handle does nothing but reveal the hop up dial.

Dissagree away mate, really I dont care that much IMHO, I too have used MP5s, A real 416 and many others, I know the official HK slap is to release the cocking handle from its lock, but hell the 416 is HK and you can slap it to release it, there for HK slap.

The HK slap is more to do with the motion you make to release the cocking handle, so simply slapping a M4 bolt release isn't a HK slap. Say that on a real gun forum and people would die with laughter

As sad as this sounds I'd love it if all AEGs had to be cocked in order to fire them not just on Systema Or GBB's I agree the sound of the M14 is great and on the M4.

I have to admit that would actually be a very nice improvement. They look like the real thing so why not make it that they operate like the real thing too. I think it'd actually make the whole thing that little bit more interesting.

I have to admit I have done this with my MP5 a number of times but it's usually only when I'm firing it in the garden or in my room and such. In a shoot out I think I'm more concerned with just shooting the other person and not gettin shot. :P

I always cock my M4 as i use VN magazines and when i get a head shot i always say 'BOOM HEAD SHOT'
