Americans? Overreact? I'm surprised they didn't threaten to invade!

My regular site had one area that meant you usually had to use smoke to get them out! It was always greeted with "haha you gits finally dug us out then!" And never any bad feelings.

If you're that bad a reactor to smoke, hit the deck when it goes off. Then get out of there. Don't sit there and try to handle it, then cry when you can't

His second video is a disgrace. The first three "slo-mo-see-I-hit-them" shots I'd categorically say can be seen to miss. I think the 4th he misses until he hits, and then the guy calls the one he's hit on. The rest we see the slo-mo but he turns away before showing weather they call it at all. The last one where he marches up and does the worst overkill I'd say its not even the same kid he shot that he's having a go at, there's a crowd of them including one who looks like he's hit who was probably the first one he shot.

Abusive language, overkilling because he's cross, squaring off to a kid who's all of 12. Asshat of the first order, any site that let him get away with that I'd not return to.

Re: asthma. When you had a problem with smoke, did you react like the kid in the video? I don't think the smoke video is about saying people have to love smoke, its about his reaction.
Yeah I meant the guy filming had bad sportsmanship (my bad ). But I chose this video over the second one, because he is more in the wrong in this video than the other. He's called his hit, but when he sees that the other person hasn't called his hit, he throws a BF. Also, what I find quite infuriating is that this video is going to send a bad message to younger/new players to airsoft and they might think this is norm.

I've never reacted to smoke like that. In my honest opinion I think that kid was over-reacting. I was once in a hole in the ground at a woodland site (the capture point in the game) and smoke grenade went off in the hole. Not once did I feel like I was suffocating or finding it difficult to breathe. Now I understand this is in the back of a truck, but come on, after about 30 seconds or less that kid started making out as if he was on the verge of death.

Another thing that I have noticed to be the cause of a lot of confrontation in America is the Bang Kill Rule. Now, my local site doesn't have the Bang Kill Rule for a justified reason. What's to stop someone from just storming a room constantly shouting bang? How do you know what the maximum engagement distance is for a Bang Kill is? (<---- I think this needs to go in the Grudges, Gripes and Grievances thread)

Bang rule in the US is because most fields allow high FPS at full auto, like over 400fps. You'll see many videos showing big open spaces too, so most of their engagements are further away than we'd be used to over here. I think that is also a contributory factor to how many cheat videos you see coming from the states, they are habitually shooting at distances where you can't actually see the BB, so the marksmanship delusion is king. i.e. I can't have missed, I'm awesome, that guy is cheating! RAGE!
Add that to a mandatory bang rule at short distances causing confusion and it makes me very glad I don't play over there.

This is regular skirmish play. Their milsim scene seems to be very different and where the good stuff goes on, while the tournament scene seems to be an actual circle of hell.

Yeah I get that, but the purpose of the Bang Kill is for close quarters where you are likely to only be on semi and rather than shoot someone with your 400 fps gun you shout bang. But I have seen people use such rules where you really don't need to such as in the outdoor field where you could have just shot the person rather than having a big old scuff about it. I just think there is already a problem of such where hit detection in airsoft is already difficult, the bang kill rule just sort of add to that problem.

Oh dear Lord, don't even google it.

Basically small teams going into a very small field to overkill and scream their way up some league table.

I've seen the odd bit of bad play etc during my years airsofting but one of the most annyoing circumstances happened just after a contact had finished.

It was a Tier 1 event at STANTA in Aug 2012, I forget the Op name now but anyway... The Coaliton/Blue Force side had just been struck by a big IED and a fire fight lasting 20 minutes or so ensued. During that time I had flanked around the Taliban positions and got a couple before getting hit and returned to the compound for a break and to respawn as all my medic tags were used up.

While there I thought I'd go up top on the roof to see what was still going on. Up there another member of the Coalition, some kid in MARPAT was up there. At this point from the cross road the Coalition troops hit by the IED were walking back in, and one of the guys I was there with motioned to me asking where the enemy were. Now before I go on, I dont condone dead men either asking or telling where the enemy are. I couldn't see despite my elevated position and wouldn't have said if I could, so shrugging my shoulders I continued to watch the trail of players walk by.

At this point the kid in desert MARPAT starts saying how he hates cheaters. I look at him slightly confused and ask him what he means. He refers to the guy I was with asking where the enemy were. Now at this point I'm thinking, yes I agree, cheating in this sport ruins it and I suspect my friend did it in the heat of the moment as he's not a dishonest person. So I explain that I knew the individual and although right to not let on where the OPFOR was I did say he should probably be more careful not to express his opinions so loudly as you never know whos listening. I didn't say this in a threatening manner or at least I didn't think I did. The contact had finished and the adrenaline rush has gone so I wasn't hyped up! At this point he starts to get very vocal and clearly having taken it as a threat starts to verbally abuse me. Now fortunately I'm a big boy unlike the little c*nt I was having the misfortune of finding myself talking to and dont get particularly fussed about words, but when he tried to instigate a fight I walked off, thinking I'd rather repeatedly hit my testicles with a hammer than get caught up in a fight with the moron.

Ultimately I tried to give him some friendly impartial advice, he took it as a threat and I can only assume because he was wearing desert MARPAT he thought he was a real US Marine and therefore invincible. I just though he was a tw*t and probably typical of the COD generation.

It didn't ruin the weekend but I did notice him and his merry bunch of bumders eye balling us all weekend. When I told my mates, they pissed themsleves laughing!

                    • Re: tw@t's on the field ..

                      Had one at the weekend.

We had some intel boxes to hide/protect. The majority of the team (99% involved in the discussion) agreed with my plan: Leave all bar one of the boxes in plain sight, out in the open and set up positions around it. They had to get the boxes, open them, memorize it's contents and also the box number. That's on top of moving them around to get to the one underneath etc. The idea behind my plan was that they wouldn't be able to do this, so long as we had eyes on that position.

One guy started blabbing about this that and the other, and suggested another tactic. I explained to him the above, at which he was very disgusted and said "Clearly 15 years (military service, I assume) counts for nothing!" then stormed off. Same guy that had been giving everyone that look all day, and who I later saw clearly not taking his hits (he was stood next to me and about 10bbs bounced off of him as he was shooting. He didn't stop until he hit who/what he was aiming at).

I'll state this now - this is airsoft. Not Vietnam, Iraq etc. It was also a normal walk-on day with 25+ rentals.

I also just want to add that, while the opposing team did get all of our boxes bar the one we hid, it wasn't until our entire team was out.

So i was playing this saturday just gone,

We were playing a game of hard point, and just outside hard point 1 was a little black room, overlooking the doorway to the hard point, so me being fully dressed in black decided to lie down and cover the hard point from the outside.

I can see two of the enemy creeping up the hallway towards me, but neither have torches so i am invisible to them, and then all of a sudden a player of the larger variety, who had consistently not been taking his hits stepped in front of the door to me.

Now, if there was no one else present i would've offered a surrender, instead, i aimed for the back of his legs and put 3 shots (single shot) into him.

Only for him to turn around angrily saying "Why the f*** are you in there, the hard points in that room", to which i replied, am i not allowed to defend it how i want?

He clearly wasn't happy by my response and went off crying to his team mates and a marshal!

Safe to say i had a little smirk on my face, shame he couldn't see that through the darkness!

Well you say that out of context to what i was saying, of course wearing black doesn't make you invisible, i couldn't just stand somewhere and expect not to be seen, but i used the darkness to my advantage. To them there was nothing there, the room was pitch black, so i was lying on the floor, to them, without a source of light wouldn't be able to see me.
