didnt see that post, i shall be training again in july but was with 3 para til last march had to pull out the regiment for a medical issue and shall be retraining soon could of been back mid lastyear but the army has bmi bollocks that has to be followed apparently if youve got muscle you cant go into training as " your more at risk of injury" never heard anything so daft in my life considering i passed selection top of the group ...twice.... you can get scrawny chavs joining up not because they want to but because they have to but you can have well built people who have worked hard for it. not to mention soldiers who have been through it came out then cant get back in for the same reason.... they really need to sort there recruitment issues. anyway back on topic before i rant further lol!
So did you make it to Battalion or did you get injured in training? I'm sure I saw a post earlier where you said you had started to wind the bottom of your magazine during a contact, or did you mean a training exercise??
The BMI thing is a difficult one for the Army. I was nearly prevented from deploying to Afghan because my BMI was high, despite having a low body fat %. Apparantly 10 years of bodybuilding, rugby and power lifting didn't seem to be a valid excuse. I actually had to go to a specialist doctor for review (the first medical I had to stay fully clothed). The second doc asked me to get undressed while he got some paperwork. When he came back I was already in my skiddies and he just looked at me and said "play rugby or weight lift?" I said both and he stamped my form fit to deploy. But the Army as a whole have to consider the whole force and what a really heavy bloke might do. I've had to carry an average weight man on the battlefield and it's fvcking hard work, imagine having to do it with someone really heavy. Whether its a big fat biff or a shredded bodybuilder will make little difference to the guys having to carry him. They have to draw the line somewhere unfortunately.

and that was recently when i was due to start again this march after i redid part of selection and just kicked out under an 8 min mile and a half!! and the week before i completed a full specialist medical fitness test with loads of wires and monitors attatched to me and they actually ran out of intensity increases lol
weightlifting
fighting (proffesionally)
rugby....the three things that prevent you progressing in the army that should actually benefit you not hinder

Ah ok. When I saw that and read your bio of "sending Taliban back to Allah without the virgins" I thought you'd been on ops.
Whats your weight then. It must be pretty high for them to just fvck you off. Either that or you're mega short?? The funny is though when you get in, fighting and rugby are major sports you can do, weightlifting not so much because,to be honest, its not needed in soldiers.

Re: British Forces Weaponry
Not being funny, but you guys should maybe make a British Army thread elsewhere, cause this is straying way OT at times, and mods can get padlock happy when that happens.
